A brand new poll released on election eve by Landmark Communications shows Kingston with a 48 - 41 lead over his challenger David Perdue in the race for the republican nomination. Two recent polls released earlier in the month had the race a bit tighter with Kingston leading by 5% and 1%.
Landmark also has also shown Democrat nominee Michelle Nunn leading either Republican in a hypothetical match-ups. She leads Kingston by 8% and Perdue by 6%. It should be noted that the average of most polls until this latest one has given Perdue a slight lead and Kingston had been slightly behind. Landmark also shows a big shift in favor of the Democrat candidate in the race for governor. Carter(D) leads Deal(R) by 7.4%. http://www.wsbtv.com/news/news/local/poll-shows-carter-widening-lead-over-deal/nghbm/. The poll comes just after new developments in the ethics investigation into Deal, and it could have cost him support according to Channel 2 political
analyst Bill Crane.
The Tea Party backed a third candidate that did not make the runoff and it is unclear how supportive they will be in the general election without their candidate getting in. The head to head match-up polls will mean a lot more 3 weeks from now.
