significant weather event is because of man made global warming. Whether it's too much rain, not enough rain, a bad hurricaine or a tornado. He just says 'See global warming is the cause.' Jake Tapper won't challenge him on any positions. He acts as if Cameron is performing a public service. And I thought CNN was supposed to be the objective network. It's one thing to want to clean up the air we breath but many people are taking this too far, particularly when it comes to talking about man made global warming and especially when it comes to blaming recent whether events on man made global warming. There are many climate scientists who hold significantly different views and any good objective broadcaster would have challenged him on this.
It seems to me that James Cameron is an environmental extremist. He believes that every

Notice that I use the term reversal. When Obama changes his stand on something the mainstream media likes to refer to it as 'evolving' or 'pivoting.' Anyway, Mike Huckabee at some speaking event said that he is against gay marriage because the bible is against gay marriage. He mentioned that he gets criticized from the left about this but points to Barack Obama who said he was also against gay marriage because of his christian faith. Huckabee went on further to declare that he doesn't understand how Obama could change his position when the bible hasn't changed. He suggested that perhaps his faith has changed or perhaps Obama was just lying about his position all along. But it had to be one those.
He spoke about this while he was on with Megan Kelly on Fox Friday night. Megan Kelly also referred to the media hypocrisy for talking about the issue like anyone against gay marriage is some kind of bigot living in the stone age when Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton were all against gay marriage until a few years ago. Further update on what he actually said."And my question that I would love to pose to the president is this: Mr. President, please explain that when you said in 2008 at the Saddleback Church forum that you stood for traditional marriage and you did so because you were a Christian and because it’s what the Bible taught, please answer: Were you lying then, are you lying now, or did the Bible get rewritten?”" One America News Network, (OANN) launched in March of 2013. It's president Charles Herring describes his network in this way. "Providing reliable, credible,fact-based news with substance." He adds that is getting difficult to find. A smaller component of the network is it's talk format. About that Herring says “The second component is to provide a platform where more voices can be heard,
voices that are ignored, libertarian and conservative voices.” My Commentary Production value seems a little cheap. They seem to be copying Fox News to a large degree. They really don't need the loud swooshing sounds or the flag waving in the background. Their news ticker along the bottom of the screen doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. It's too brief and too specific. There's not enough information to know what they are talking about. It's just a bunch of headlines. As far as weather is concerned, they are doing this rediculous future-cast thing. It seems every 15 minutes they flash what the temperature is in about 500 different towns across the country. Including about 30 in Hawaii. It is useless information. They seem to repeat the same stories every 15 minutes. Their news reporting seems pretty straight foreward and objective without opinion or discussion. It definitely gets a little boring. They have some right leaning talk shows that also feature opposing liberal points of view. It seems they are true to their mission. They are doing some brief reporting on the IRS scandal and Benghazi but not much. On their website if you search for 'Mike Morell', acting CIA director during and accused by republicans of being involved in a cover-up during congressional hearings, it yields no search results. In fact the little I found about Benghazi came from rueters and seemed to be sympathetic to Hillary Clinton and critical of the republicans. In addition a lot of their news reporting seems to be reading from rueters the AP. Nearly 2 years after being held in contmept by congress, attorney General Eric Holder is still not cooperating with investigations and republicans are mad as hell. In an exchange with congressmen King(R), King brought up issues such as why his department was so quick to begin an investigation of the GWB lane closures involving New Jersey republican Governor Chris Christie but has refused to investigate and/or turn over documents involving the fast and furious gun running scandal, the IRS targeting of conservatives, former NJ Governor John Corzine and the Billion dollars missing in Global Crossing, Marijuana Companies operating against federal law in Colorado and Oregon, and the knock-out game involving mostly black criminals attacking whites. All Holder had to say was that he was going wherever the facts led him and he and his employees conduct themselves in the best traditions of the department Congress doesn't seem to think he is conducting himself in the best traditions of the department. Back in 2012 he was held in contempt by a bi-partison vote of 255-67. Seventeen democrats voted with republicans and 108 did not vote. Only 65 supported him. Barack Obama has been talking a lot about how he has cut the deficit in half since he has taken office. He is talking about the deficit as a percentage of GDP. It was about 4.1% of GDP in 2013 and
9.8% in 2009. He maintains, specifically, that he has cut the deficit at a faster rate than anyone since World War 2. This is not even close to being true. We have had deficits followed by surpluses several times throughout history. In all of these situations the deficit would fallen by more than a 100%. I think what they mean is that the percentage of GDP has never fallen by a greater amount this quickly. While this is true, this news is not as good as it looks. While it has fallen a great deal since 2009 you have to consider that historically speaking, it was extremely high in FY2009. From 1947 through 2008 the deficit only averaged about 2% of GDP. 9.8 percent was the highest deficit we had since 1945 when it was over 20% because of World War 2. In 1946 it was 7% and since then the highest deficit we ever had before 2009 was in fy1983, 5.9% of GDP. So while yes, it has gone down a lot, it is still quite high. Here are some calendar year deficit numbers. Dec 31, 2013 -4.1% Dec 31, 2012 -7.1% Dec 31, 2011 -8.70% Dec 31, 2010 -9.00% Dec 31, 2009 -10.10% Dec 31, 2008 -3.20% Dec 31, 2007 -1.20% Some of the huge spending increases in late 2008 and 2009 as well as low income credits and tax cuts intended to grow the economy were only temporary. The sequester, which Obama blamed on Republicans and was against, was actually responsible for over 1% of the decrease in the deficit. The economy has not grown as much as the administration had hoped and that is another reason why it has been as high as it's been in recent years. So basically, its not that hard to bring down, when it's so extremely high. Is this deficit sustainable? Probably not over the long haul. We need to get some numbers under 2% of GDP within the next couple of years. And after that we need to start running a little bit of a surplus. Atleast for about 5 years. That is just to get things back in order. Otherwise we will be in big trouble. Yes we had a high deficit during WW2 and we recovered from that but you have to look back at what happened after. Six out of the next 11 years we had a surplus. Out of the next 24 years we only had a deficit of more than 1% three times. Read More Lately the MSNBC news network has really been going hard after Texas Governor Rick Perry for not favoring a new law supporting equal pay for women. Governor Perry is saying democrats in his state are drumming this up as phony issue. He points out that his state already has laws on the books supporting equal pay for equal work.
They have also accused the governor's office itself of discriminating, pointing to some statisitic that women are only paid about 88% of what men are bringing in for the same work. I seen it myself. They were actually laughing and giggling about like they thought it was funny. I can't remember who it was. Maybe it was Alex Wagner or The Cycle. I haven't been able to find anything about it online. It's also been reported on Fox News just today that the Obama white house also is guilty of a gender pay gap with women making only about 87% of what men make for the same work. Somehow I don't think your going to see those who attacked Perry on MSNBC having anything to say about Obama's white house. Nor will you find anyone else in the media holding Obama accountable for the pay gap at the whitehouse. Keep in mind many believe there are reasons for these pay gaps that don't necessarily involve descrimination. But not Obama. He has been railing on about it, accusing republicans of having a war on women. Is it too much to ask for a little bit of even handedness, say from CNN, since they have been so big on talking about republican problems with women. |
