Gary Peters has been holding on to a small lead in the polls averaging about a 4 point lead in polls taken between July 5th and August 5th.
Built in Advantages
Michigan leans about 5.6% Democrat so Land will have to exploit President Obama's unpopularity as well as the unpopularity of Obamacare, and the economy to try to push herself over the top. One advantage she has is that she has already won state office as she was elected Secretary of State twice. She is used to running a state wide campaign. Another is that she is better financed than Peters. Her campaign has about $5.8 million cash on hand and Peters has about 4.3 million. Her personal worth stands at about 33 million and she has already contributed 2.9 million for her primary. No doubt then she will spend atleast that much more if the polls remain close.
On Obamacare Peters says "The more I read it the more I liked it". Now he says the laws not perfect and he'll try to fix it. Terri Lynn will surely exploit this and she has the money to do it.
